About
A little bit about me:
I was born and raised in the Twin Cities. Growing up in the Minneapolis area, I was surrounded by creative expression. Minneapolis is busting at the seams with art and culture and that became a big part of my upbringing. My mother always encouraged my artistic side and we would spend hours in our basement studio creating. I had a passion for art from a young age and always had it in the back of my mind that I wanted to pursue a creative career. Alas, reality took over and art took a back seat to academics and the grind of the real world. After I graduated from Eagle Ridge Academy in 2013, I started working the following fall as a nanny for an infant. During the baby's first year, I fell in love with documenting how much she changed over such a short amount of time; thus began my passion for photography. I loved capturing her little giggles and pouts and everything in between. Photography is a wonderful way of capturing both the ordinary and extraordinary moments of our lives. That is where my love of photography comes from. The ability to tell a story with a single image is priceless.
A little about my style:
I aim to capture images that are timeless, the ones you can leave in that frame for years to come. I shoot a mix of candid, everyday moments as well as more formal portraits. When shooting families, my goal is to capture how the family interacts and loves one other. To tell the story of that family and capture the dynamics within it. When shooting children, I love to get down on the floor and play with them for a little while before shooting so they aren't afraid of the camera and I can capture how they really are and their personality. I love to photograph a variety of different things! From newborns to kids to seniors to couples to families, every moment and experience is worth capturing! My end goal is to create authentic photographs that capture the essence of the people or the moment.
A few quotes that challenge me in my pursuit of photography:
"Work crazy hard and think creatively." Jon Kamrath.
"It's not what you look at that matters. It's what you see." Henry David Thoreau.
"It's not going to be easy but it's going to be worth it."
"Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in, except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." Winston Churchill.
